What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry. The primary goal of Orthodontic treatment is to develop and maintain jaw alignment and straighten teeth.

A fixed appliance ,(Ceramic, Lingual, Metallic), brackets glued to your teeth, hold wires in place. In turn, these wires exert pressure on your teeth and move them in a specific direction over the course of your treatment.
Orthodontist is the dentist who is further specialized for another 3 years in the field of Orthodontics at a postgraduate program. The orthodontist can obtain his title from the Ministry of Health after undertaking exams.
A specialist orthodontist deals only with orthodontics.
